The macros too are also best tools available I use 5 specific shortcuts and one is open macro on midi edit and the other is cycle among macros. So I will give a bit more time on the composing aspects only, but still, S1 has the Sound Variations and I also have EW and VSL libraries and all that makes everything a breeze. Nice sounds and player, but no need extra everything again, I don't install soundsets or loops either on S1 I still have to check in depth the composing tools aspects of Cubase, Stock Templates are more interesting in concept but I don't find the need for them, besides they all load with Halion which I will uninstall soon. It took me a minute to find the mixer and understand it's all a big open window with nothing and you load "modules" as needed, like Gimp and many other image / video edition software. S1 is way simpler and the workflow as you mentioned it's right there. And honestly I had the same experience you did, I mean, I spent only $50 from LE to Elements to not go Artist all the way, and glad I did. Just installed Cubase Elements last weekend. I'm hoping that Presonus will offer Studio One Pro 7 next year, maybe during Q1-2024. I also find S1Pro GUI much cleaner, and easier on my eyes, Cubase has too many menus, more mouse clicking, and looks more busy to work with in general. So, I might have wasted ($199.) for the Cubase 12 Pro upgrade, but I'm not sure yet, I hate using Cubase expression-maps, after using S1Pro Sound Variations, especially if I'm using Synchron Player, OPUS Player, since the Sound Variations are handled automatically, and in both directions. It's funny, after I installed Cubase 12 Pro, on my mobile rig laptop, It felt like a new DAW, since I have not used Cubase for quite some time, and have been really spoiled by the superior workflow Studio One Pro 6 offers, for me, WORKFLOW ! is the key element for not bothering too much with Cubase. I don't really need to mix in surround at this time, but I might do in the future. Cubase 12 Pro offers Atmos-Surround (5.1) mixing, which S1Pro 6 does not. Last week I purchased Cubase 12 Pro upgrade, just to be current, thinking it might be a good idea to be current on these two DAWs. I used to be a Cubase 9 Pro user years ago, but switched to S1Pro, never bothered using Cubase 9.5 Pro once I got S1Pro.
